Oxidative Stress Explained: Why Your Cells Need Antioxidant Support

Here's What Oxidative Stress Actually Looks Like. The Mug Is Overflowing.

July 17, 2026

If you've seen my latest video, you watched me pour and pour into a mug until it spilled everywhere. It's actually a pretty accurate picture of what's happening inside our cells, every single day.

Every day, something's pouring in

A rough night of sleep. A tough workout. A stressful email. Plastics. Even just breathing city air. All of it creates free radicals — unstable molecules that are a completely normal part of being alive.1

Free radicals aren't the enemy. In the right amount, our bodies actually use them — to fight off invaders, to signal cell repair, to keep things running. The problem isn't that they exist. It's what happens when there are too many for our cells to process.1

this overflow = oxidative stress
Same idea as the video — just the science version.

Our cells already have a built-in sponge

Here's the part that doesn't always make it into the conversation: our bodies aren't defenseless. We're built with natural antioxidant systems — enzymes like superoxide dismutase (SOD) — whose entire job is to neutralize free radicals before they cause damage.1,2 Research on melon-derived SOD specifically has shown it can help reduce oxidative damage and fatigue tied to physical activity.2

That's our sponge. For a lot of history, it was enough.

Oxidative stress isn't about something being wrong with us. It's just what happens when the demand on our cells outpaces our capacity to keep up with it.

Modern life pours a little faster

More stress, more screens, more processed everything, more exposure to things our great-grandparents never dealt with. Our built-in sponge is still working — it's just being asked to absorb more than it was originally designed for.1 For most of us, that's the everyday reality.

That's not a flaw in the system - it's just math. Our sponge hasn't changed. What's pouring in has. And when the input outpaces what our cells were originally built to absorb, that's not a sign that something's broken. It's just a sign that our capacity could use a little backup.

Giving our cells more room

This is where exogenous antioxidants — antioxidants we take in from outside the body — come in. SOD works a little differently than the rest: it goes right to the source and directly neutralizes free radicals before they ever get the chance to cause damage.1,2

  • Tart cherry has been shown to support the body's own antioxidant enzyme activity and speed functional recovery after physical stress.3
  • Blueberry has been shown to lower oxidative stress markers in human trials.4
  • Moro red orange extract (the source behind our Red Orange Complex and Morosil) has been studied for its role in supporting healthy body composition alongside a healthy lifestyle.5

None of this changes how much pours in. SOD helps stop some of it right at the source, and the rest gives our cells more capacity to process what's left. Same amount pouring in — our cells just get more support to keep up.

From my Routine

This is exactly why I take Cellev8 daily. I'm not trying to avoid stress — life is going to keep pouring, and honestly, I want it to. That's what a full life looks like. I just want to give my cells a little more room to handle it. Same demands, more capacity. That's the whole idea.

Your body isn't broken. It's just working hard — and it deserves the support to keep up.
